Details on how to participate in this LIVE workshop are below!
Jessica Starns completed her Inclusive Arts Practice MA at the University of Brighton, she is the founder of ‘Dyspraxic Me’ a charity for young dyspraxic adults and works within museums. She was awarded a place on the Shaw Trust ‘Power 100’ 2018 list of the most influential disabled people in Britain. Jessica is a collaborative artist whose work is socially engaged and mostly highlights inequality for neurodivergent and disabled people.
During lockdown Jessica Starns was successful in gaining funding from Phakama to organise "Virtual Walks" to break down the feeling of isolation whilst we were all social distancing.
Using Google Street View and Zoom she went on "Virtual Walks" with others. Jessica asked the participants if they would like to share places that are important to them, they are missing or places they would like to visit. It was a collaborative process. The participants decided where they wanted to lead the walk, people attending had a choice if they just wanted to watch or verbally join in and ask questions. During this workshop Jessica will be asking for one volunteer to lead a walk with others as an audience.
There is space for 6 people to join the Virtual Walk. We will be using Zoom and Google street view.
One person to lead the walk, five people as an audience.
If you would like to attend or lead the walk please let Jess know at email@example.com saying where you would like to go.
We will need to check that the walk is accessible on Google Street view. I will make you a host on Zoom to then lead a walk using google street view. You will share your screen and use the person to walk and talk through your route.
If you would like to see previous Virtual Walks you can watch them here: https://www.youtube.com/…1Bw
